Salvation: Belief in The Gospel

Today’s Word

Deliverance from the power and penalty of sin; redemption.

Today’s Verse

Ephesians 1

13 And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christ – you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit,

Two simple steps are all it takes to gain salvation. However, its simplicity stumbles many. Why is that? Well, it is so, due to lack of understanding.

The fact that all we must do is believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead, and confesses with our mouth that Jesus is our redeemer, is hard to understand to many.

Most feel that they must be pure already to receive Him. However, it is filled with sin that we must receive Him, for it is our salvation that erases all sin, not our works. His grace forgives our sins, not our acts.

Believe in Our Hearts

When we hear the word of God, and we believe the meaning of the Gospel in our hearts, then we will be saved.

Our hearts receive the Word of God. Our hearts are softened by our belief. Our hearts receive the Holy Spirit. It is in our heart where the conviction of sin first manifests itself.

Profess With Our Mouth

When we profess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, our salvation, and our redeemer, then we are saved. Once our hearts believe, our words will profess our belief. We will confess our sins, ask for forgiveness, and profess our salvation.

Would you pray this today?

I profess to the world that I believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and was raised from the dead. He died for my sins, and my belief in Him has washed them away. It is my belief in the gospel that has sealed my salvation.
