The Test – When God Wants to Tests Our Faith

It is three in the afternoon and I realized that I have not wrote an article for my blog in two and a half weeks. Not because I did not want to, but because life threw a curve at me. What kind of curve you ask? The kind of curve that no matter what you do, cannot hit it back and make it go away.

In the last couple of weeks, there has been several tests that have come my way. I call them tests, because I do not recognize any other word that could describe them. There are times when God needs to test our faith. I am OK with that.

Tests are ways of God letting us know we need to take a closer look at what we are doing. He makes us take a closer look, so that we can see what mistakes we are making.

What did I learn?

I learned that:

  • I was relying on me, instead of him.
  • I was not talking to him as much.
  • I forgot that he needs to lead the way.

I like that he guides me right away. He does not let me go too far away before he pulls me back. I am far from perfect and he knows that. So a gentle tug to remind me of what is important is all I need from him at times.

26:2  Examine me, O Lord, and test me!

Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives!

As I went through the tests, I realized that all was for one good, the good that he purposed. I re-evaluated where I was at and made a change. I made a change in my thinking, my ways, and my prayers.

It amazed me to see that in just a couple of days, circumstances can change our behavior. However, when God is looking after us, he promptly jumps in and helps us get back on track.

I am thankful for the relationship I have with him. I am thankful that he looks after me. I am thankful for his gentle tug, his tests, and his faithfulness.

1:3    because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
